Dear All,
I have been signed off work since the 28th of January this year due to a long standing medical problem. Whilst not life threatening, this has made it progressively more difficult to perform my professional work in the way I would like to care for my patients. On the 28th of May, I was informed that I could retire on ill health grounds. Although it is with a very heavy heart that I write this letter, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my patients for their loyalty and support over the years.
I qualified in 1990 from Glasgow University and moved into general practice. I have spent the majority of my career in Tullibody and Alloa. It started in August 1999 when I joined the Christie and Macdonald team; working in the ‘wee’ Tullibody branch practice in Tron Court. The girls and I didn’t always practice what we preached and we kept the Baker in business with our daily empire biscuit! As the first patients arrived and welcomed me, I knew I had found a place I would fit.
Under Macdonald and Morson the practice grew, legislation changed and Tullibody was no longer suitable as a modern dental surgery. We joined the main team at the new premises in Alloa in May 2013. After being in such a familiar and well-loved position for so much of my career, I worried about the move and I wasn’t sure if my patients would follow. However, you did and I will always be very grateful that you came with me. The trust you have placed in me to care for you and your families is a privilege and has helped me to have a very fulfilling and enjoyable career.
I would like to thank all the team members over the years for their friendship, hard work and support. Without it, the last 21 years would have been very different, both professionally and personally. I have many fond memories of the people I have worked with. In particular, I wish those taking over the dental care of my patients well in the future.
At this time of sadness for me, and uncertainty in the world and, in particular, the world of dentistry, I wish my patients and colleagues well for the next phases on the horizon. Although Covid-19 has created many problems for our society, I know that the team at Macdonald and Morson has already expanded to meet the needs of my patients and all those in our care. I feel sure our patients will continue to be looked after with the personal touch I always strived to deliver and we will all come through the pandemic challenges ahead.
Once again, I wish to thank my patients for their support and trust. I feel fortunate to have been part of your lives and I wish you all the best in the future.
Lesley
